April Technology Spotlight: J40 Ultra-Slim Surge PDU

The sleek J40 models pack loads of advanced surge suppression technology in a tiny package. The 10A version barely tips the scale with dimensions of 8.07 x 3.35 x 1.22 in while the S and SP models come in respectively at 8.07 x 7.28 x 1.22 in and 8.07 x 7.87 x 1.22 in. This smaller design makes this range extremely versatile. XPC believes it is useful for, “mounting behind thin display screens used in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, campuses, airports and other commercial areas”. The J40 series also looks like a great option for tight or hard-to-reach places for a few reasons. It’s obvious slim and light build fits into areas where many surge PDU’s can’t squeeze. There is no longer a need to dig behind a display case or tall unit to reach for a reset! This model utilizes flat installation with mounting brackets.

As the chart shows, all units offer surge suppression up to 2400 joules and similar temperature ranges. The higher end model, J40SP, is equipped with RJ45 Ethernet built-in two-port switch for connectivity. A smaller profile does not imply a smaller impact on what it is designed to protect.
